Chio's Princess Spa Party

Wow, Rocio is now 4! She was very specific about what she wanted to happen at her party- "I want a make up party". After a lot of negotiations the party turned a princess spa and I think they all had a great time. We sent the boys to go play at the park, and we got started. I was thinking that we would help with the make putting on, but they did all the make up by themselves. Then we did manicures and pedicures. There was one point when two of the girls were getting their nails done and two others were sitting in the "drying chairs" and there was complete silence save for the relaxing mood music. It was so cute; and it was not an atmosphere I'm used to having at a birthday party. After everyone had gone home, Chio said, "I want all of my birthdays to be spa parties!" I have to say I don't think I'd mind if they all went like this one. Here are some pictures from the day.

Note: Were going to celebrate daddy's birthday on Tuesday so stayed tuned.

Chio's bike riding

Okay, we've been looking at old blogs I wrote and the quality lately has been awful in comparison, which is saying something. That's why these last two post have been longer and explanatory, but frankly they seemed boring too- so sorry about that, hopefully I'll get back into the swing of things soon.

On Monday of this week chio asked if she could go out and ride alex's bike (what he doesn't know won't hurt him). It doesn't have training wheels but I figure she's just going to get on and use it like a scooter or something. No, she gets on and rides it to the end of the driveway. Then she wants me to teach her to ride it. That's not exactly on my list of approved things to do so I tell her all I can do is stand at the top of the hill and give her a little push- she readily agrees and so it begins. Tuesday she wants to do it again but she crashes (no blood, barely even a scratch). All I can do is sit next to her as she cries until finally she can walk into the house; I have no idea what the people driving by thought. So Wednesday afternoon Alex is finally home and I tell him he has to take chio out to teach her to ride her bike. I was so disappointed I didn't have my camera with me. You see, my husband is usually a pretty stoic guy- when the Cowboys aren't involved. But when he took her to this parking lot and started her off and she just took off, the look on his face was priceless. He looked so astonished. I went back to the house to get the camera but he was way more composed when I got back. Here's chio on her bike. She still has some trouble with steering, but we figure that since this is her first week she'll be okay:)

Teddy Bear Parade

These are some pictures of our kids in the teddy bear parade. Chio deliberated for about an hour before deciding on the tutu and hat for her bear (she may have been putting off bedtime though because she did it the night before- when she was supposed to be sleeping). It all paid off because her bear got first place. I think that next year alex is going to pay more attention to his bear costume because there were some covetous glances at chio's ribbon. He opted to just put his Care Bear in without a costume, at the last minute when we were handing the bears in for judging he decided his glasses were inconvenient so he put them on the bear. Then they got to walk around town square with the marching band.

Sherman Art Fest

alex isn't really that into art. It's just not his thing. I hate getting paints out for him because EVERY single time he has painted he has ended up mixing every color together to get something between brown and black and he inevitably ends up disregarding the paintbrush so that he can use a more convenient body part (the ear was the worst) to finish his project. This stinks because I can't just get him set up and leave him, I have to watch over him to make sure I won't be doing ceiling cleaning later. chio, on the other hand, is a very meticulous artist; so we do still do painting on occasion and alex is not allowed to touch chio's paints. So, I asked alex if he would like to put a painting in our city art show now that he is old enough and he decided he would. This is it. After he painted it, he turned it to ever angle and decided that it was a painting of the "Eiffel Tower at Sunset"....then I took it away before it turned into a brown blob and into the show it went.

Fun Stuff

I do miss alex when he goes to school, but rocio and I are having a ton of fun together. Her personality seems to be more pronounced when there's not someone to fight with. She is so cool. And, sadly, I think she might be wasted on us because she is an awesome shopper. She will go into a zillion stores/banks/whatever without complaint and there is no "can I have this" or "can we go now" the only time problems arise is when she has to go pee. She will not use questionable looking bathrooms so sometimes we have to go home to pee or go to a store I know she'll use just to use the bathroom. The funny thing is Alex has been saying this all along. He's been taking her shopping all this time by herself but I usually go with both alex and chio or neither one. I've even took her with me when I was trying on clothes the other day. It was just like going by myself except I got her opinion (asked for or not) on each item-she seems to be disappointed in my choices:)

Thanks again Grandma Diana for the tutu. She loves it. chio also saves the tags off her clothes (if they are the hard cardboard kind) and keeps them in her wallet-I have no idea why. But on this skirt, the tag has a monkey who is upside down on it so whenever she is going to pose she flips upside down.

First Game

So alex had his first game today and he scored 5 goals! At the end of the game he came up and informed me that the bribe from last year was still in effect...good thing it wasn't a bakugan per goal like it was first season or we'd be broke right now. I don't know if he even will need bribery this year, he really did awesome all on his own and we hadn't even thought to talk about it yet.

Now I'm wondering if I was the one that was holding him back lol. It's weird sitting on the side and not coaching but it is definitely for the best. By the time we got home from the game I had passed the maximum of allotted contractions before I'm to start freaking out and had to spend forever in bed before they stopped. Now, in preparation for Sunday, my house is trashed (including the paints i didn't put away from yesterday that my kids "watched ourselves" using so they wouldn't make a mess- that worked well), they are eating the well balanced meal of Ramon noodles with cheese as they watch a movie and I sit here and blog contemplating what time we can go to bed (is 5:00 too early?)- where's my mother of the year award I ask you, I could do this stuff in my sleep:) Alex.... poor guy, I wish you were here and next week we have to go to bed early ....and I also think we should contemplate moving to Antarctica or pray that it will cool off again.

Here is goal # two. There were more impressive goals but this one has the added benefit that I got it to load so don't complain. He is number 2.
