A Girl of the Limberlost
So at the end of last year I had to ban myself from books so that I would be able to get everything done and I wanted to ensure that I would not accidentaly end up staying up until 3 and completely exhaust myself. Luckily I was able to keep this goal because none of the authors that I follow have their books come out for the holidays but I am glad that it is over. I just finished A Girl of the Limberlost and I absolutely loved it. It's an old book, the author died in 1924 but I have never heard of this book before and I don't want any of you to miss out, especially if you liked Anne of Green Gables. It's in the kids section but it has excellent character development and it leaves you wanting to be a better person and try to make others lives better. Cathy, I don't know if it is to old for Summer, but I think that she would like it. alex needs my but I will write again when I can and include the story of alex's first sea shell find.

Hair Cut
http://www.videoegg.com/video/csyQyV
here is a movie of alex idolizing his daddy. I hope you like it; sorry you are going to have to copy and paste I can't figure out what is going on. I also am putting up some pictures of Alex that I think are funny because he did them by himself and when I came in to see what he was doing was so excited to ask me what I thought of his hair. I didn't grow up with boys so I never knew how much fun hair cutting could be.
And alex is sitting on my lap while I am typing this pointing and saying dadadadadadad. We miss you.

Sea Shells
So what is up with guys? Alex said that his car was acting up and he needed to fix it and to do this he had to go to Byrons house because he has all the right tools. So, Elizabeth calls and says that we should all come over to hang out. Alex has been driving around for a week with the car sounding bad before we got around to going up to Allen. We finally get in to go and I thought that we were going to die. The car sounded like someone had dropped a wrench in it and it was banging around... so after they spent a couple of hours on it we drove it home and then today we took it to the shop to see what was wrong with it... but we did have fun hanging out with them.
And here are the pictures.

Here's the sea shell that alex found.

Here are the Christmas presents that alex got. He's not spoiled or anything!

I'm back....
working on my blog, watching the sugar bowl(did anyone get to watch the fiesta bowl?), and am also on my forth cup of hot chocolate that I have been dipping sugar and cinnamon covered toast in as part of my new diet called "Alex is at work and I miss him". I'm so good at multitasking it's scary!
So I have been slacking off on my blog and now I'm back to tackling the daunting task of filling everybody back in on what we have been up to and I just realized the unforgivable mistake that I made this season which I hope I will never repeat- the videos that were previously posted are the only pictures/movies that I took for Christmas. ooops. So tomorrow I'll take some pictures of alex playing with his toys and of the first seashell that he ever found. He found it while we were playing in the Gulf of Mexico on New Years Eve. That's right we got to play in snow too, it just happened to be already converted into water and then waves. In Texas our glass is always half full! I wish that everybody was here, but know that we love you from afar and that we miss you. Thanks for every ones blogs, they've been wonderful.

Secon Present
http://www.videoegg.com/video/cqpPrH
This is him opening his Fire Truck, but he keeps going back to his train. He is a little sick and we got him up early so that we would be ready in time for 9 o'clock church which he and I didn't end up going to because he was too sick.
The video egg isn't working so you have to go to the site to see it.

Christmas pictures
Ahhhh.... Just take a breath.
I have a million other things that I should probably be doing right now but I need a break! We just got back from the laundry place they have in our apartment complex, and the washers were full of tar looking stuff and pieces of metal and glass so I opted to NOT put my clothes in there and I don't know what Alex is going to think when he gets home but he loves me even if I do stink so I'm not that worried. I suppose that this is what I get for getting so behind in the laundry. Because it's so hot here I never had to put my summer clothes away so tomorrow I'm going to have to start wearing my maternity clothes if I want to find something clean- but that's a good thing because those are actually my favorite clothes to wear and I would wear them all the time but Alex gets embarrassed.
So I thought that I would share this picture. I cleaned alex's room really well, set up all the background cloth, gave him a bath, got him dressed, did his hair and finally got his daddy to come in and help me take our Christmas pictures and this was the first one that we got.
Alex and I laughed so hard....it fits in perfect with everything that is going on!

Ouch...
Sometimes you just have no idea what to do! Every morning alex and I go into the bathroom and he uses his little pot and I use the big one and we both just sit there until he goes pee. We aren't potty training this is just what we do because he fights when he gets his diaper changed so much that in the morning I usually couldn't get it on before I would have to clean the floor or change the pad (depending on the aim) anyways. So we take potty trips in the morning, if this is weird just pretend like I didn't say anything. This has been going on for a month or so; it's been going well, he pooped once (which was gross) and he goes every morning. A couple days ago we had an accident....he was sitting on his little pot with his pee pee pointed down, for obvious reasons, and he decided that he wanted to get off but instead of standing straight up he kind of scooted forward. Now, the potty has a little cup thing that sticks up more than the rest of the seat and will catch whatever is trying to sneak by. This is usually a good thing (namely pee) but this day it was very bad (namely pee pee). Then I found myself in an awkward situation... I mean I can't kiss it better or anything; so I just kind of held him until he stopped crying. He can't be then only little boy that this has happened to, can he? So now he won't have any more of that little potty and I hope that I haven't lost any hope that we had of potty training him.
And this movie is for Calixta.

Cookin' Fun....by alex
The first thing that we did was get all of the utensils out of the drawer and through them on the floor. Then mom stayed in the kitchen and held the drawers closed, sometimes she just doesn't know how to have fun.
Then I stirred the cookie dough.
Then I practiced for when I'm going to be in a band, I'm going to be the drummer. After that we put the cookies on the cookie sheet and I was such a big help that we even had to go and have a wardrobe change, the problem with that was that mom got rid of the clothes that I had stocked up with food for later.
Then after all my help mom wouldn't even let me help with the documentation of for day...For future reference I'm really good with cameras.
WOW
Well, I haven't been blogging lately because my blogging ritual was messed up. You see I usually go to mine check the comments and then proceed through all the blogs to make sure that I don't miss anything that someone has written. BUT for some reason my blog just stopped working and since most people don't write very much I didn't think that I would miss anything....BOY was I wrong! It's so good to here from everybody, I hope that you all keep it up.
And now us. As you have all heard Alex got the job and we are so excited. We won't be making very much, but still as much and more as if we had stayed in Utah or gone somewhere else and the best part is that Alex will have the job that he has wanted.
alex and I are in the middle of making cookies and pizza so if you check back later today I'll be sure to put up some picture because so far he has done a really good job of getting flour all over the whole kitchen, but then again this is the first time that he has ever kneaded anything. So good to read all of you blogs and Merry Christmas.
P.S. this new spell checker is awesome, it even knows the word blog.

Best Ride Ever?
Do you ever read a book and think, "What was this person thinking?"
Best Ride Ever
Here comes Dingo Dog in his shiny red car.
Where is he going in such a hurry?
He drives through a grocery store...
and then hits an egg truck! Crash!
He plows through a cornfield...
and then knocks over and apple stand. Pow!
Dingo passes a bus going as fast as he can. (this is alex's favorite page)
Honk! Honk! "Get out of my way," say Dingo. "I'm in a hurry."
And why is Dingo Dog in such a hurry?
Dingo is hungry! He is going for lunch.
Give that dog a bone!
I think that something like this can only be achieved by... a single uncle...who is trying to get on the nerves of his sister.

Where did my baby go?
All of a sudden I don't have a baby any more. Yesterday we went to the park and he went down a big slide all by himself, no help from us, the only thing that he has trouble with is when he gets to the bottom he wants to do it again so he tries to climb up the slide rather than going up the stairs. When we would put him on the younger kid play park, he would walk about fifty feet (twenty-five feet each way) around this big mountain wall thing to get to where the big kids were playing. When we kept taking him back to the little kid park so that he would stop getting run over by the big kids he climbed the mountain wall and succeeded in getting to the top after falling down it a couple times.
The other day when I was feeding him Raman noodles he kept trying to get down so I thought that he wasn't hungry and put him down. He went over and picked up a big person fork off the floor (yes my house is AMAZINGLY clean) and tried to climb back up into his high chair to finish eating with HIS new found fork; his small utensils just don't suffice.
His ornament on the tree has to be where he can get it, take it down and put it back on without any help from me. If he discovers I have moved it up to where he can't reach it he will get me, bring me over and give me a lecture until I get it down for him. This is okay with me because this way he only touches his ornament and leaves all the other glass ones alone. There was a little problem yesterday when the library had an ornament that looked like his and he kept trying to get it down- because every tree must have at least one ornament you can touch right?
He now likes to watch noggin now that aunt Calixta has taught him about it. And unless she taught him he figured out that if he pushes the "F5" bottom he can play it over again without my help from me.
The list goes on and on: he needs to wear his new shoes (which are too big and he can barely walk in), he needs his coat on, he wants his shirt off, he wants the whole apple not a piece, the door/window needs to be open/closed, he wants to be in his own chair, he want a nap now and he's not standing up from the middle of the floor to go to his bed, I need to vacuum the floor-with his help of course, he needs a wagon ride, the stuffed nativity needs to be on his table-and all in a row along the wall.
I had thought that when he started to demand all of these things he was going to turn in to a little brat and start to throw tantrums but he just calmly looks at me and starts to explain how thing are with a LOT of hand gestures for as long as it takes until his dense mom gets it. So I ask again where did my baby go?

C is a Wonderful Letter
I haven't been writing blogs because I have been so sad that we were not going to be able to be with our extended families that I just didn't have anything good (or I should say positive) to say. Now I can say that we had a wonderful time and we hope that you did too, and that you start to feel better soon.
Christmas Trees and Chocolate
We went to go and get our Christmas tree last night and we had a great time picking it out. alex would run up and down the ales yelling at the top of his lungs with his hands spread out like wings; I think that our excitement of getting our first real tree spread to him. We were outside so nobody seemed to mind; if anything I think that it got them more in the Christmas spirit. Then we came home and got it set up without all the trouble that I remember encountering as a kid-what went on back then? and alex likes to sit in the corner behind the tree and just look at it-I haven't gotten a good picture of it yet but when I do I'll put it up.

And then Christmas time has brought a new love to alex's life- chocolate. He doesn't really eat that much food, so I don't ever really give him any candy. But as he was helping me put the chocolate out for Christmas I gave him a piece and now he is always pointing at it and with a wistful voice saying, "cha cha cha cha cha" he will even go so far as to grab my hand and pull me over to get it. I wish that "after you have your dinner" would have more of an effect on him.
Cat
While we were on our way to aunt Linda's we stopped on the side of the road, so that alex could get out and strech his legs, and pulled into a church parking lot. There was a little cat that would follow alex around and want to play so much that the little boy who usually follows animals anywhere so that he can play with them got to the point where he was pushing it away. And you get to see the "moose on the loose" outfit.

Phantom of the Opera...
My family went to go and see The Phantom of the Opera last night and I wanted to make sure that I would ask them how it went so I have been walking around and singing "the Phantom of the Op-ERA". The red part is sung kind of low alternating between two notes and then the purple is sung really loud in vibrato (at least that is how I have been doing it all morning while I was picking up). Then I sat down to pay some bills and alex was walking around picking up toys and then putting them down before going to the next toy and doing the same thing with it and the whole time going da da da AAAAAA! The "da"s the same note but quite and the AAAAAA really loud. I can't wait 'til Alex comes back from football so that I can tell him how much potential his son is showing to be an opera singer, I'm sure he'll be so proud. What could be better than playing with you kid?

I Wanna Be Like Dad.
I have so many blogs that I wanted to write over the past month that when I think about them it becomes a daunting task. Because of this I avoid writing new blogs because I am skipping so much other stuff that I want to write about first. That is all in the past. I'm just going to write about what I am thinking about at the moment because I think that makes for better blogs anyways. So just know that we have been doing stuff, but when we do stuff we don't have time to write about it so you only get to here about the boring everyday stuff. Sorry.
alex likes to copy everything that his daddy does. I'm sure that this will come as a shock to some of you but occationally Alex likes to lie on his back and throw a ball in the air or bounce the ball off the wall. Little alex is pretty good at the bouncing the ball off the wall, but have you ever seen a one year old lie on his back and try to throw a ball horizontally? It is extreemly entertaining but unfrotunally resulted in several hits to the nogen; I think the funniest part to watching this unfolw was that alex had to be laying down right next to his dad in order to copy correctly so he would sit down next to him and then scoot him self as close as he could get before he started to throw the ball.
Alex had to work a 24 hour shift on Halloween and then go straight to his 12 hour shift on Wednessday, we missed him so much (and that is why he is not in the Halooween pictures), but alex missed him the most. When Alex got home little alex followed his dady around and tried to do everything that he did (he also would freak out if his daddy went out side or even left the room without him). Alex was cleaning out a grass burn on his leg; to do this he stuck his foot in the bathtub and poured peroxcide over it. While he was sticking his foot in the bathtub he nocked a cup that was sitting on the edge of the tub into the tub.....so alex pushed all of the shampoo on the edge into the tub. Then alex tried to lift his leg up and get it over the side and into the tub like his dad, the problem being that he is like 4 feet shorter than his dad and can't get his leg up that high but that didn't stop him from trying. So after trying to get his foot in for the entire time thtat his daddy was in there he followed his dad into the living room where his dad started working on an application...alex went to his table and sarted working on his own stuff. As you can see in the picture below, it was cute.

Then this is a movie that I thought that you would enjoy.
